The year is about to end and the job seekers are once again looking forward to a more booming job market in the country. However, one exception to this projection is the auto sector, which saw yet another lean year in a row.

“The job market continues to sustain the momentum that it gained in February and March 2015. But some sectors did not do well as far as recruitment is concerned,” said V Suresh, vice chairman and head of national sales at Naukri.com sometime back.

This is especially true when it comes to the auto sector. According to Suresh, the hiring scenario will remain cautious as the sector has not been doing well. “The recruitment activity in this particular sector depends on a lot of factors. I do not see it picking up immediately as the industry on a whole has not been doing well,” Suresh explained.

For the sector to register higher recruitment activity, measures need to be taken to boost the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the country. The SMEs are pivotal to the growth of the auto sector and should have both technology and skilled manpower. While the Modi government

According to market estimates, the sector will witness a higher demand for engineers followed by diploma holders . Degree and vocational courses will be least preferred and recruiters will give emphasis to candidates who have some domain expertise.

Nevertheless, Suresh asserted that the hiring activity in the sector is directly impacted the by the sales clocked in by the players. If the sales pick up, the recruitment activity is expected to pick up exponentially.
