TCS is running on women power, with over 150,000 permanent employees

• Women constitute a third (36%) of the total workforce of TCS.

• Nearly 12,356 new employees have joined the company during the first quarter of the fiscal.

A third of employees as India’s largest company TCS, are women. According to the company’s annual report, women make up for 36% of the company as it aggressively hires them across job roles — including freshers.

The IT company has nearly 436,641 employees onboard with them — with 152,114 permanent women employees as on March, 2019. Globally, TCS is one of the largest employers of women in the world.

The company claims to be an ‘equal employer’ with an inclusion policy in place. To increase women participation in the workforce, the technology giant provides many employee benefits including extended parental leave, mentoring programme for junior women employees. It also has a virtual support group called ‘Workplace Parents Group’ — to help working mothers.

The company’s attrition rate stood at 11.3% for the 2018-19 fiscal. “TCS account teams are better placed to retain the contextual knowledge gained over time, and use that to build differentiated solutions tailored to each customer’s unique requirements, said Milind Lakkad, Global Head, Human Resources.

As per a recent press release, the tech giant extended nearly 30,000 joining letters to fresh graduates. It plans to further increase the count by adding 18,000 more over the next three years.

Around 12,356 employees have joined the company during the first quarter of the fiscal — which is the highest in the last five years.
