1. These are the 10 companies that spend the most on advertising in the US. The annual Ad Age "200 Leading National Advertisers" report is out.

2. Car dashboards that act like smartphones have been raising safety issues. Research shows that reading the average text message, for example, takes four seconds, far longer than what many people would consider safe whilst driving.

3. Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg has joined the board of SurveyMonkey. Her late husband was the company's CEO.

4. Two big problems could stop Facebook video in its tracks. A lack of original content, and the need for more incentive for creators to produce it.

5. This is the real reason Twitter is copying Facebook and wants you to input your birthday. It's all about ad targeting.

6. A major makeup brand is under fire for sending out body-shaming tweets. Benefit UK has since deleted the offending tweets and apologized.

7. Amazon has announced "Prime Day." It's a new day of sales that promises to have "more deals than Black Friday."

8. Yelp traffic could decline for the first time ever. One analyst predicts Yelp could report a rocky second quarter due to a change in Google's algorithm.

9. Reddit CEO Ellen Pao has apologized to Reddit users. She admits "we screwed up" for not communicating well and for surprising moderators and the Reddit community with big changes.
