1. The EU says it won't allow mobile carriers to deploy network-level ad blocking. The EU's net neutrality guidelines state that internet service providers should not "block, slow down, alter, restrict, interfere with, degrade, or discriminate advertising."

2. Salesforce shares dropped as much as 8% in after-hours trading on Wednesday following soft guidance and billings growth in its third-quarter earnings. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said the "softness" was only temporary and part of the normal enterprise software sales cycle.

3. McDonald's USA president Mike Andres is retiring at the end of the year. Over the last couple of years, Andres oversaw some of the brand's biggest changes in the US in decades, including the introduction of all-day breakfast and replacing margarine with butter on Egg McMuffins.

4. PewDiePie, the world's biggest YouTube celebrity, was briefly suspended from Twitter on Wednesday for making a joke about joining ISIS. His account has since been reinstated.

5. Former BBC director general Mark Thompson made an ominous prediction about the broadcaster's future. He thinks the BBC will need to make some "serious" on-screen cuts in order to manage its new funding deal.

6. General Mills only wants an ad agency that has a creative department staffed with 50% women and 20% people of color. It's a requirement of its current US creative pitch.

7. Social media stars and celebrities charge an average of $187,500 for each video sponsored by brands, Campaign reports. Captiv8, a US talent agency, claims stars with more than 7 million followers can earn $75,000 for a single post on Instagram or Snapchat.

8. Techies are furious Apple chose Jessica Alba to star in its upcoming reality show "Planet of the Apps." But what they probably don't understand is that the show isn't for techies.

9. IBM's Watson sorted through over 100 film clips to create an algorithmically perfect movie trailer. The film "Morgan" has the first movie trailer created by artificial intelligence.

10. Facebook is telling advertisers to speed up their mobile websites. If they don't, Facebook plans to prevent showing their ads, AdAge reports.
