somtMillennials are quite defiant if you go by the society’s standards- they don’t want to invest in a future; whether it is a profession, a partner or even a home.
When so many young people prefer to rent a house when they move between cities- buying furniture wherever they go isn’t a viable option.
In that situation, Indian start-ups likeFurlenco and Rentomojo are giving an alternative option to the Indians migrating to cities.
Furlenco, in particular is setting new industry standards in the renting space by making sure the designs are also user inspired, which truly enhances the customers’ lives and their homes.
One of their offering called ‘Bounce' is not just a bed or a lounger; it comes with lots of fun soft furnishing like large cushions, a lamp that doubles up as a coat / bag hanger, fun sheets it even has inbuilt wire-management system, which makes it a party station for a group of friends at night as well as a cozy corner to spend a lazy and rejuvenating Sunday afternoon with the family. They also provide customers with full-customization on any of their furniture that they can let go once they've used it. Renting furniture is a great option for people who get bored with their furniture and like to mix things up occasionally.
The company pairs convenient services like delivery within 72 hours, free deep-cleaning during the tenure of their service as well as a free re-location service within and to any of the cities it operates in.
Being headquartered in Bangalore, Furlenco operates in the cities of Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Gurugram.
Ajith Karimpana, CEO and Founder, Furlenco told Business Insider that the growth of furniture-on-rent has been fuelled by the influx of millenials shifting to the cities for work, “People start with makeshift arrangements when they move to a new city but the goal is to still make it feel like a home. Buying good quality furniture means blocking their finances for an asset that is depreciating and can’t be easily moved to another city. We try to provide our subscribers with a personal touch by connecting them with an agent who takes care of their household needs.”
Many of Furlenco’s customers have rented furniture for as long as five years and the trend seems to be growing. Furlenco provides basic furniture rental starting at Rs. 599 per month which includes furniture such a wardrobe, bed and sofa.
