Thomas Cook acquires Rs 130 crore business space in Mumbai. Thoman Cook, one of the India’s finest travel companies, under its expansion plan, has now acquired commercial space worth over Rs 130 crore at Lower Parel in Mumbai. Few company officials confirmed the deal to Economic Times on condition of anonymity.

The travel biggie bought the 72,000 sq ft office space spread over two floors at commercial complex Marathon Futurex last week. "The office space can accommodate total 700 employees and will be used for the expansion of Thomas Cook India's travel desk," informed the official.
The 11th and 13th floor of the corporate tower will be occupied by Thomas Cook.

The rates in Lower Parel area range from Rs 17,500 to Rs 20,000 per sq ft depending on the amenities provided in the commercial complexes, however, the company has inked the deal for around Rs 19,000 per sq ft.

The financial daily had sent an email to Thomas Cook for confirming the news but got no response. Also, Mayur Shah, MD Marathon Group, the developer of Marathon Futurex, declined to comment on this news.

Other businesses that have their offices in the commercial tower includes: Essel Group’s Zee Entertainment Enterprise, Tata Strategic Management, HDFC, India subsidiary of Parisbased global cosmetics major L'oreal and Consulate General of Israel.
