Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a tweet that he's "heartbroken by what's happening in my country," referring to the two mass shootings in Texas and Ohio on Saturday where 29 people were killed in less than 24 hours

Cook alluded that the US government's efforts so far to control gun violence have been ineffective and non-existent, saying "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results."

Cook wasn't going as far as to cast politicians under a negative light, but he said, "It's time for good people with different views to stop finger pointing and come together to address this violence for the good of our country."

On Saturday, a shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas left 20 people dead and at least 26 injured. The suspected shooter was arrested, and authorities are investigating a possible manifesto published online before the shooting. It's suspected that the shooter was racially motivated.

Also on Saturday, a separate shooting in Dayton, Ohio left nine people dead, as well as the shooter himself. 26 people were reported injured, according to The Wall Street Journal. There's no confirmed motive so far for the Ohio shooter.

The shootings were the 31st and 32nd mass shootings in the US in 2019 so far, according to The New York Times, which defines a mass shooting as a single shooting incident that kills three or more people.
