Alam Ara's 80th Anniversary
On 14th March, 2011, Google
marked this doodle that showed the poster of India’s first talking film, Alam
Ara. The doodle shows the lead actor Master Vithal and the actress Zubeida in
the classic shot of the film. This shot has been immortalised as the image of
Jagjit Singh's 72nd Birthday
On 8th February 2013, Google
celebrated the 72 birth anniversary of late Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh. The
doodle featured him with his hands on the harmonium with the Google logo
behind him. The color of the logo was the same as the shawl he wore, which also was the signature style of Jagjit Singh
in his music concerts.
Satyajit Ray's 92nd Birthday
On 2nd May, 2013, Google
marked the 92nd birthday of ace Indian director Satyajit Ray. The doodle
featured the protagonist siblings Apu and Durga from Ray’s first film Pather Panchali,
which won 11 international awards at the time of its release in 1955.

M. S. Subbulakshmi's 97th Birthday
On 16th September 2013, Google paid homage
to the renowned Carnatic vocalist and Indian actress Madurai Shanmukhavadivu
Subbulakshmi on her 97th birthday. Mrs
Subbulakshmi was the first musician to be awarded with
Bharat Ratna, which is the highest civilian honor. She also acted in a few
films in her life, and gave mesmerizing musical performances world over. The doodle had a portrait of a lady playing a veena, sorrounded by various musical instruments.
Ustad Alla Rakha's 95th Birthday
On 29th April 2014, Google honored the
Tabla maestro Ustad Alla Rakha on his 95th birthday. Ustad Alla Rakha was a world-known tabla player and music composer
of several Hindi films in 1940s. Along with Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Alla Rakha held concerts all over
the globe. He also made albums in collaboration with international artists like
Mickey Hart and Buddy Rich. He is the father of another reputed Tabla Player, ustad Zakir Hussain.
