A photo of a frozen referee is so good Google thinks it is a watercolor painting

• The Colorado Rapids opened the 2019 season against the Portland Timbers in the snow.
• The match ended in a 3-3 draw, but it also led to some amazing photographs.
• The best of the bunch was a photograph taken by the Rapids of a frozen assistant referee.

Major League Soccer opened their 2019 season over the weekend, and one of the matches took place in the snow at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Denver.

The match ended in a 3-3 draw, but as the snow picked up throughout the match, it led to some wild photos. The best of the bunch was this photograph of a frozen assistant referee taken by the Colorado Rapids and posted to their Instagram account.

The snow in the hair and the icicles dangling from the eyebrows are like something out of a 1970s NFL Films video. 

The photo is so good, that if you do a reverse search for it, Google thinks it is most likely a watercolor painting.

The frozen ref wasn't the only great photo from the match.

Timbers goalkeeper Jeff Attinella looked awfully lonely on the frozen tundra.

Dillon Serna appeared to be aging right before our eyes.

Players became difficult to see, especially on the Timbers side in their white jerseys.

They were forced to use an orange ball, which did help.

If you made sure to bundle up in about 17 layers, it looked like a blast and a heckuva way to start the season.
