  • Bingo! had recently released an ad for its latest offerings, Bingo! Mad Angles Cheese Nachos and Bingo! Mad Angles Pizza featuring actor Ranveer Singh.
  • The ad offended fans of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and claimed the ad mocked Rajput because of the use of words like algorithm, photons etc.
  • ITC Foods has dismissed the allegations stating the ad was shot in October 2019.
Last evening, #BoycottBingo started trending on Twitter after an ad by ITC Foods' Bingo featuring actor Ranveer Singh went live. Fans of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput claimed that the ad where Singh is seen talking about algorithms, paradoxical photons, and aliens after being repeatedly asked what his future plans are.

The fans of the late actor took offence because SSR used to often talk about science, even his Twitter bio used to read 'Photon in a double-slit' and they felt that the ad was distasteful and was making fun of Rajput.

However, the brand completely dismissed the allegations. In its official response, an ITC Foods Spokesperson said, "A completely false, erroneous and mischievous message is being posted/circulated alleging that an advertisement of Bingo! is making fun of a late Bollywood celebrity. Such kind of erroneous messages are knowingly spreading falsehoods. We request you to not fall prey to such mischievous posts.

The recent Bingo! Advertisement was shot more than a year ago in October 2019. It is being aired this year because of delay in the launch of Bingo! Mad Angles Cheese Nachos and Bingo! Mad Angles Pizza due to the Covid-19 pandemic."

Bingo's trolling came a few weeks after Twitterati got upset over 2 Tanishq ads that were eventually pulled down. What is good to see is that Bingo! stood its ground and has not pulled the ad down.
