  • The ticket-selling service SeatGeek is known for its partnership with YouTube creator David Dobrik.
  • Following an Insider investigation into a former member of Dobrik's YouTube Vlog Squad, the group has been embroiled in controversy.
  • A SeatGeek spokesperson told Insider it is currently "reviewing internally how we want to proceed."

A prominent sponsor of YouTube star David Dobrik is "reviewing" its partnership following an Insider investigation into a former member of his Vlog Squad creator group.

The ticket-selling service SeatGeek is known for its viral partnership with Dobrik (18 million YouTube subscribers), which includes splitting the cost of a Ferrari in exchange for a 60-second shout-out, and a number of big-ticket giveaways, like gifting friends and family a brand-new Tesla, or paying off their college tuition.

Now, the partnership is under review, the company told Insider, after a woman featured on Dobrik's YouTube channel said she was raped by a Vlog Squad member in 2018 the night they filmed a video about group sex.
In the investigation published by Insider on Tuesday, a woman said that she was given alcohol by Vlog Squad members and became intoxicated to the point of blacking out. Then, she said, she was involved in group sex with Dominykas Zeglaitis (known as Durte Dom online) that she could not consent to. Dobrik, she said, filmed her and her friends throughout the night.

When Insider approached SeatGeek for comment on the company's partnership with Dobrik, a spokesperson said: "Via recent media reports we have become aware of the allegations against David and the Vlog Squad, and take them very seriously."

The company did not clarify whether the allegations would affect future partnerships between the brand and Dobrik when asked.

"At this time we're closely monitoring the situation and reviewing internally how we want to proceed," the spokesperson said.

Dobrik had a year-long contract with SeatGeek in 2019, when he was paid to promote the company every month in some capacity. SeatGeek began working with Dobrik in 2016, and has since worked with him on dozens of paid campaigns.
Ian Borthwick, SeatGeek's director of influencer marketing, told Insider in 2019 that at the time, the 30-plus Dobrik videos SeatGeek sponsored had generated a total of 200 million views.

Borthwick, who formed a close relationship with Dobrik and earned the nickname "Ian from SeatGeek" in Dobrik's videos, has not publicly commented on the allegations. He did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Dobrik published an apology video on Tuesday after Insider published its investigation, where he said consent was "super super important" to him.
