Seeking nominations for the top public relations pros that help companies go public

The capital markets are heating up and investors are eager for more companies to go public through IPOs and SPAC.
  • Insider is looking for the top PR pros that work on taking companies public.
  • SPACs and IPOs are becoming an increasingly bigger part of revenue for PR agencies.
  • The deadline for nominations is March 5.

There are a surprisingly high number of companies that are going public despite the coronavirus pandemic.

In 2020, $67 billion was raised across 194 IPOs, and $64 billion raised across 200 SPACs, according to Renaissance Capital. The IPO and SPAC market this year is already catching fire, creating opportunities for financial public relations pros, whom companies hire to shape messages and handle the media as they go public.

But with that increased appetite for more public offerings, companies have to be tell their story more carefully than ever. The past six months have been a roller coaster for the stock market. The pandemic wreaked havoc on the travel and tourism while some tech stocks have skyrocketed due to the rising work from home trend and the Dow Jones has marked record highs.

Another issue complicating this confluence of factors is the increase of retail investors who trade on brokerage apps like Robinhood and so-called "meme stocks."

Insider is compiling a list of the top PR pros that help companies go public by overseeing their communications efforts, ranging from their investor roadshow to courting reporters.

We're looking for people who work at agencies and handle these accounts directly as well as exes that corporations hire in-house to lead comms. The list will be based on nominations, original reporting, and publicly available information.

Similar lists Insider has published in the past include "The top 36 public relations pros in the tech industry" and "Meet the top 15 financial public relations pros at firms like Edelman and FTI Consulting."

Submit your nominations for the top IPO and SPAC PR pros through the form below by March 5. We plan to publish this list in the coming weeks.
