Despite strong consumer warmth towards the brand, Burberry's revenue has shrunk by 1% to £2.5 billion ($3.6 billion) this year.

To counter this slump, which many believe is caused be a fall in demand from Chinese consumers, Burberry announced cuts of £100 million ($144 million.)

41% of its mentions were linked to the English Premier League, according to the report. However, it announced plans to ends its £40 million-a-year sponsorship deal with the league last year, although it will still remain a category-three sponsor.

Business Insider reported at the time that this success was in large part down to its increased sales of SUVs, like the Cayenne and the Macan. The release of the better value-for-money Macan in 2014 has allowed many more people to own Porsche's and is possibly what has made Porsche become the fourth most-loved car brand across Europe.

"We will lead the BMW Group into a new era, one in which we will transform and shape both individual mobility and the entire sector in a permanent way," Harald Krueger BMW's CEO announced in March.
