Every year, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Air India, the third largest airline in India, operates all-women flights. This time, however, they set a new record by operating the longest all-women crew flight from New Delhi to San Francisco.

The flight that lasted for 17 hours had an all women staff, right from the cabin crew, cockpit crew, doctor, customer care staff and the ground staff, including the operator, technician, engineer, flight dispatcher and trimmer.

On Women’s Day tomorrow, Air India will also operate 20 all-women crew flights in domestic routes.

"Air India will be flying 20 all women domestic flights on March 8 to commemorate International Women's Day. The details regarding their routes and timings are expected to be disclosed by Monday evening," Saurabh Gupta, Air India’s PRO, told IANS.

It was in 1985 that Air India has become the first carrier in the world to operate an all-women crew.
