Juniper Networks provides the network service and support for Amazon Web Services, the cloud unit of Amazon. According to UBS Analyst Steven Milunovich, weak demand from Amazon may have caused Juniper's earnings upset in the third quarter.

"Our industry contacts tell us AWS is changing its data center architecture," Milunovich wrote in a note. "We believe this change could be creating softness in AWS spend on Juniper."
