When Amitabh Bachchan came to Virat Kohli's rescue

If the match that Indian cricket team snatched from the hands of Bangladesh on 23^rd March wasn’t enough, history repeated itself in the match that India won against Australia last night, thanks to Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 82 runs.

Cricketers and cricket fans everywhere went crazy when the hosts gave a tough time to one of the best teams in international cricket, citing that it was the victory of good cricket over anything else.

However, Andrew Flintoff, the English cricketer, was in a different mood altogether, when he tried to tease Kohli by tweeting about his home team’s supposed clash with the hosts. However, the tweet was done after he had praised Kohli in a separate tweet beforehand.

For those who don’t know, Joe Root is a part of the English squad set to play the first semi-final against New Zealand, and is the No. 2 batsman in Test cricket on the ICC Player Rankings and is ranked No. 10 on the ICC ODI Rankings.

However, there was someone amongst the cricket lovers of the host country, who didn’t like the hero of the evening being compared to anyone else, and that someone was the pride of Indian cinema, megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Mr. Bachchan immediately came to Virat Kohli’s rescue and tweeted,

The actor openly talked about uprooting Root, a pun at his surname, indicating that he was in no mood to listen anything against the man of the match.

Flintoff later tried to lighten up the situation, by replying to Bachchan’s tweet asking him who he was, but nobody reacted to this tweet.

India will now compete with West Indies in the second semi-final on 31^st March at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
