With the compact SUV segment picking up, Hyundai is all set to invade the segment in 2017 with the Carlino compact concept car.

The Korean car-maker showcased a concept codenamed HND-14 at the Auto Expo, and this would become the base for future car that’ll be born to fight the likes of EcoSport and MS’s Vitara Brezza.

The new SUV will be developed and manufactured in India. IT will be exported to Hyundai’s overseas markets as well. Hyundai’s Hyderabad-based technical centre is working to make the concept a reality.

Hyundai’s confidence in the compact SUV space was reinforced after Creta’s grand success. The car is currently the leader in the segment with average monthly sales of over 7,000 units.

The Hyundai concept will rival the likes of Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300, and the newly launched Brezza. However, unlike Mahindra & Mahindra, Hyundai is not so keen on going below this segment.
