The Xiaomi Redmi 7 may be a budget device under ₹ 8,000 but its battery life and processor making it a strong contender in the category. The 3GB RAM is also enough for multi tasking and the phone’s 32GB storage can be expanded to 512GB using a memory card.

The phone’s dual camera setup also works well for quick clicks that you would want to share on social media, provided they’re taken in a well lit environment. Despite the camera’s many capabilities, low light shots need more stability and greater clarity. But then again, low light shots aren’t rarely the strong suit of any phone, even flagship devices.

The phone’s Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection guards the phone against possible damage from drops and scratches.

The phone’s only drawback is that while it may have a large screen, it does have a Full HD display.

Samsung’s recent push into the budget segment to dethrone Xiaomi as the market leader has brought the Samsung Galaxy M10 to the masses — it’s also one of the most affordable smartphones by Samsung.

The South Korean companý’s M-series is different from the usual devices that Samsung launches. It’s the first phone by the company in the budget segment that tries to get rid of the notch altogether.


The phone’s battery will last well over a day and the design is modern for anyone wanting to sport the notchless trend. Although, the chipset is dated and even though it has one of the biggest screens for under ₹ 8,000, the HD plus resolution of the screen leaves much to be desired.


ASUS Zenfone Max M1

If you’re looking for a phone that’s reliable and will last throughout the day without asking for another charge, then this is the phone that you should go for. The Snapdragon 430 chipset clocks in at 1.4GHz combined with 3GB of RAM makes the ASUS Zenfone Max M1 making it capable of adequate multitasking without overheating the phone.

If the 32GB memory isn’t enough, ASUS gives its users the option to expand the phones memory upto 256GB using a memory card. There’s a fingerprint sensor as well reducing the time needed to access the phone while adding a layer of security.

The main advantage for budget phone users is that, since the phone already has relatively limited internal memory, the phone comes with one of the cleanest UI’s in the segment with minimal pre-installed apps.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 is a feature filled phone in the sub-₹ 8,000 category. The screen is a little smaller than most devices in the market, but that makes the phone perfect for people who are looking for a more compact device. The age of larger screens and phablets may make the viewing experience on a phone better, but make the device more bulky to carry around in your pocket.

The dual camera setup in the back and the 5MP front camera, both, take good shots in well lit conditions and the phone’s chipset, though not the newest on the block, had handle multitasking without slowing down.

But beware, the phone’s battery life is capped at 3,000mAh. If you’re a heavy phone user then you’ll probably have to charge at least once during the course of the day.


Samsung Galaxy A10

The Samsung Galaxy A10 is another Samsung device for under ₹ 8,000. It comes with a modern design with a water drop notch on phone’s super AMOLED display. The phone’s camera takes decent picture as well but it doesn’t have image stabilization if you’re trying to take pictures while you’re on the move.

The phone’s 32GB storage can be expanded to 512GB using a memory card.

All in all, it’s a strong contender in the category if it wasn’t for Samsung neglecting to include a fingerprint sensor on the phone.
