Here’s all you need to know about Dhoni’s latest vintage car addition — the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Dhoni’s new addition is a rare vintage car. According to the HT Auto report, the car is a left-hand drive, which makes it a tricky choice on Indian roads (as cars on Indian roads are usually right-handed).

The price of Dhoni’s Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is still a mystery, but the car is said to be priced somewhere around ₹68.31 lakh.

The car gained its name from a popular Trans American racing series.

A massive V8 big-block engine powers the two-door classic Pontiac Firebird Trans Am vintage car. The big-block engine weighs more with larger valve bores, and the production of those engines was stalled in 2009 in the USA. The car also has a 4-speed Muncie transmission with Hurst Shifter, that ideally keeps you from over-shifting to the wrong gear in the heat of battle.

Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is quite well known for its looks and has appeared in various Hollywood movies such as 1979’s Rocky II and 1980’s Smokey and the Bandit. It was also the part of ‘The Office’ series where a popular character Dwight Schrute from the television series owned this car.

Beside this beast, Captain Cool also has an enviable collection of cars. He is the sole owner of the only Grand Cherokee Trackhawk with a 6.2-litre V8 engine. He has a fleet of various other cars that include Nissan 4W73, Hummer H2, Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Series 1, first-gen Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Land Rover Freelander 2 and a Mitsubishi Pajero SFX.
