Price hike as FAME subsidy ends

The price hike is a result of the FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles in India) subsidy ending on March 31, 2024.

EMPS comes into effect

The FAME subsidy has been replaced by the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) 2024, in which the subsidy is capped at ₹10,000 per electric scooter, lower than what was offered with the FAME scheme.

TVS Motors

TVS has increased the price of the iQube electric scooter by ₹3,000 and the iQube S electric scooter by ₹6,000. The scooters are now available at an ex-showroom price of ₹1.37 lakh and ₹1.46 lakh respectively.

Bajaj Auto

The Bajaj Auto Chetak Urbane has received a price hike of ₹8,000 and is now available at ₹1.23 lakh and the Bajaj Chetak is now available at ₹1.47 lakh after a price hike of ₹12,000.

Ather Energy

Ather has increased the price of its 450S electric scooter by ₹16,000, the Ather 450X 2.9kWh by ₹3,000 and the Ather 450X 3.7kWh by ₹10,000. The scooters are now available at an ex-showroom price of ₹1.26 lakh, ₹1.41 lakh and ₹1.55 lakh respectively.

Vida

The Vida V1 Plus and the Vida V1 Pro have received a price hike of ₹5,000 and ₹4,000 respectively. The scooters are now available at ₹1.20 lakh and ₹1.50 lakh respectively.

Ola Electric keeps price unchanged

Ola Electric has kept the prices of its electric scooters unchanged for now. The company has said that the existing prices will be valid till April 15.

Companies report record sales ahead of price hike

The anticipated price hike resulted in the electric two-wheeler industry reporting record sales in March 2024, with 1,39,288 vehicles sold during the month, up from 86,358 vehicles sold in March 2023.
