Popular super luxury car maker Automobili Lamborghini is reportedly working on launching its first hybrid car in India next year. The company is yet to launch an electric car in the country, at a time when Mercedes Benz has revealed its plans to launch three electric cars in the country this year.

According to a report by ETAuto, the Italian car maker is planning on launching its first hybrid car in India as part of the company’s global electrification strategy.

Lamborghini has said that it will launch the country’s upcoming hybrid car in India at the same when it is launched globally.

“Whenever a new car is introduced in the global market, we always try to see how soon we can bring it to customers in India. This strategy has been a key pillar for our growth in the country. Globally, Lamborghini will introduce a hybrid car in 2023, and India will also get its first hybrid next year,” Sharad Agarwal, head of operations, Lamborghini India, told ETAuto.

Interestingly, Lamborghini is yet to launch a fully electric car. The company has claimed that it will launch its electric car before 2030 and the Indian launch will be at the same as the global launch. The company is expected to unveil the electric car in 2028.

“The electric car from Lamborghini will be launched in India before 2030. We will not wait 2-3 years to bring a car to the market,” Agarwal added.

Lamborghini yesterday launched the ultra-luxury 2022 Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica in India with a starting price of ₹4.04 crore. The company had unveiled the car globally in April.

Mercedes-Benz recently launched the AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ electric sedan in India with a price tag of ₹2.45 crore and announced that it is going to launch two more cars this year. The company also expects EVs to account for 25% of its sales by 2027. Other players in the luxury EV segment include BMW and Audi, who have launched their own electric cars.

While BMW offers cars like the iX SUV and i4 sedan, Audi offers cars like the e-tron 50, e-tron 55 and more. The companies are expected to introduce more cars in the coming days as EV adoption increases.
