The coronavirus crisis has battered sales of India’s automobile sector, but that is not stopping automakers from announcing and launching new cars to woo customers.

Given that the government-induced lockdown caused serious damage to the automobile industry, carmakers are now planning to be aggressive by launching a raft of new vehicles in 2020.

According to a report from Jefferies, a financial services group, “Auto industry has been gradually coming back to life with OEM plants, supply chains and 80-90% of the dealers re-starting operations.” The stocks of auto companies like Tata Motors, Eicher, Bajaj Auto, M&M, Hero Moto and the likes have reflected some of the optimism as the government eased the lockdown.
