Air India to buy 220 Boeing aircrafts for $34 billion – seating capacity and more

Aircrafts ordered from Boeing

Air India has ordered 10 B777-9 planes, 20 wide-body B787-9 Dreamliners, and 190 narrow-body 737 MAX aircrafts.

$34 billion deal

The Air India deal with Boeing is pegged at $34 billion (approx. INR 2.79 lakh crore). It is the third biggest deal for Boeing in monetary terms.

Joe Biden says the deal will create 1 million jobs

Hailing the deal as historical, American president Joe Biden said that this agreement would help create 1 million jobs in America.

Option for 70 more planes

In addition to acquiring these plans, Air India can purchase an additional 50 737 MAX and 20 787-9 Dreamliners. This will take the order value to $45.9 billion (approx. INR 3.76 lakh crore).
