Four Indian women have made their way to the Forbes World’s 100 Most Powerful Women list of 2019. Leading that list of Indians is the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Taking the numero uno position is German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who has held onto her position for 14 years. Christine Lagarde, who became the first woman to lead the European Central Bank holds the second spot, followed by the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Polesi.

Greta Thunberg, who was recently named as Time’s person of the year, is the latest entrant with the rank 100.

Here’s a look at the Indian women who have cemented their position in the list.

Nirmala Sitharaman

India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman holds the 34th position in the Forbes list. She ranks ahead of Queen Elizabeth II and Ivanka Trump.

Sitharaman is one of the three women in PM Modi’s 25-member cabinet.

In 2017, she became India’s first full-time Defence Minister. She is also the second female to hold the position of Finance Minister, after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra

The Executive Director and the CEO of HCL Enterprises, Roshni Nadar Malhotra ranks 54th in the list. She is also the richest Indian woman according to the Hurun Rich India list. Her father Shiv Nadar is the founder of HCL, which is today one of the biggest IT companies in the world.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw

The leading face of women entrepreneurs, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw is ranked 65th on the list, right ahead of singer Beyonce. The chairperson and managing director of Biocon is also one of the most Googled business tycoons in India. Her latest net worth is ₹18,500 crores, according to Hurun Rich list.

Renuka Jagtiani

Holding the 96th position is Renuka Jagtiani, chairwoman and CEO of Landmark Group. The group was founded by her husband Micky Jagtiani. She has held the position of over 20 years and is based out of Dubai.

She is also responsible for having launched the e-commerce vertical of the Landmark group and is also in charge of its CSR initiatives.
