The report has listed the most valuable companies in India – from a 234-year-old sugar and nutraceutical firm to a year-old startup. The 500 companies together employ 7.3 million people.

Around 137 companies out of the 500 have more than 10,000 employees and 103 companies have less than 1,000 employees, according to the report.

Tata Consultancy Services
Number of employees: 5,92,195 | IT major TCS employs the highest number of people among all 500 companies named in the Hurun list. According to the report, it spent ₹1,07,554 crore on its employees.

Number of employees: 4,36,907 | Around 73,771 people joined the workforce between FY21 and FY22 at the business services provider. It is ranked second on the list of top employees and spent ₹11,687 crore on its employees.

Number of employees: 3,40,000 | The Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate spent ₹18,775 crore on its employees.

Number of employees: 3,14,015 | Around 54,396 employees joined Infosys in the period. The IT major with one of the highest attrition rates has spent ₹63,986 crore on its employees.

Number of employees: 2,52,217 | The number of employees in the engineering and construction conglomerate has fallen by 1.09 lakh compared to a year ago. It spent around ₹29,734 crore on its employees in the last one year.

Number of employees: 2,47,073 | Despite the IT major’s high attrition rate, 45,000 people joined its workforce in the last one year. It spent around ₹45,007 crore on its employees.
