• The De Havilland Dash 8-300 was being operated by Jazz Aviation LP, which said in a statement that one of the wheels fell off just after the plane became airborne at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport.
• It was flying from Montreal to Saguenay-Bagotville Airport, an airport in western Quebec.

A wheel feel off an Air Canada Express plane during takeoff - and a passenger caught the bizarre, unnerving moment on video.

Flight 8684 was taking off from Montreal-Trudeau International Airport heading to Saguenay-Bagotville Airport in western Quebec on Friday, but had to turn around after the wheel fell off seconds after taking off, CNN reported.

The moment was captured by a passenger in a video that shows flames in the wheel and then falling off the plane.

A passenger can be heard saying, in French: "It fell!"

The caption, in French, has the sarcastic comment:

"Well, er, now I'm currently on a plane that's just lost a wheel ... kicking off to a pretty good start."

The plane, a De Havilland Dash 8-300, was an Air Canada Express plane, which is a collective of regional airlines under the Air Canada brand which offers mostly regional flights on smaller aircraft.

This plane was operated by Canadian regional airline Jazz Aviation LP, which said in a statement that one of the wheels fell off just after the plane became airborne, CBC reported. No one was injured, and the plane landed again at Montreal.

49 passengers and three crew members were on board, according to CBC.

Manon Stuart, a spokesperson for Jazz Aviation, told CNN that: "The experienced pilots maintained complete control of the aircraft."

"Our pilots are well trained to deal with such situations and responded according to our standard operating procedures. "

They said that emergency vehicles were called "as a precautionary measure."

"Our maintenance personnel in Montreal are conducting a thorough inspection of the aircraft to determine the cause and proceed with the necessary repairs," Stuart said.

Passengers were put on another plane to Quebec, CBC reported.
