There are a total of 1,361 unicorns in the world with a total valuation of $4.3 trillion, equivalent to the gross domestic product (GDP) of Germany in nominal terms.

USA leads the charts in terms of total unicorns, as well as their total valuation. It has 666 unicorns, with 179 additions in 2022 and 463 additions after Covid. These unicorns are valued at $2 trillion, while the USA's nominal GDP is $26.9 trillion.

China had 316 unicorns at the end of 2022, with 15 additions during the year, and 110 after Covid. Its unicorns have a cumulative valuation of $1.3 trillion, while China’s current nominal GDP stands at $19.4 trillion.

India is third in the list with 68 unicorns at the end of 2022, with 47 of them being added after Covid. In 2022, India added 14 unicorns to its kitty.

The UK, world’s sixth largest economy in terms of nominal GDP, has 49 unicorns with 10 additions in the last year. After the Covid pandemic, its unicorn tally went up by 36.

Germany’s total unicorns at the end of 2022 stood at 36, equivalent to the unicorns UK added to its list after the Covid pandemic. More specifically, Germany added 10 unicorns in 2022, and 29 after Covid.

Despite being only the 29th-largest economy in the world in terms of nominal GDP, Israel ranks sixth in terms of unicorns with a tally of 24. It added 7 unicorns in 2022, and 17 unicorns after Covid.

France, the world’s seventh-largest economy, is tied with Israel at the sixth place with 24 unicorns in total. It added 5 unicorns last year, and a whopping 20 unicorns after Covid.

Canada’s total unicorns tally stood at 23 at the end of 2022, with 8 additions during the year. Interestingly enough, all the 23 Canadian unicorns were minted after the Covid-19 pandemic.

South Korea added 8 unicorns to its list in 2022, taking the total to 18. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the country has added 12 unicorns to its kitty.

Brazil, the world’s tenth-largest economy is also placed at the tenth position in terms of total unicorns. It added 5 unicorns in 2022, taking the total to 17. Since the Covid pandemic, the South American country has added 13 unicorns.
