Method and data source

Comparably has recently published lists about the companies with the best workplace outlook and the best companies located in different US cities, such as the San Francisco Bay Area. The recent engineering department ranking is part of the latest award category of the best departments.

To find the best engineering teams, Comparably used anonymous employee ratings that covered around 20 different workplace metrics. This includes questions about work-life balance and leadership. All ratings were collected between March 22, 2020 to March 22, 2021.

The best engineering teams not only are part of tech companies like Google and Microsoft, according to Comparably's latest ranking. GoodRx and Whole Foods Market also made the top 25.
