CBSE class 10th results 2019: Average pass percentage rebounds

  • The CBSE class 10th results are expected to be declared this week.
  • The pass percentage of the total number of students appearing has decreased over 12 percentage points in the last five years, according to official data.
  • The pass percentage was recorded as 98.81% in 2014, which decreased to 86.70% in 2018.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results on Monday for the 2018-19 batch, with overall pass percentage as 91.1%.

That is a rebound from 86.7% last year. There had been a downward trend in the previous years, declining from 98.91% in 2014 to 86.7% in 2018.

Of the 1.6 million students who appeared for the examination last year, the results recorded four top performers from class 10th scoring 499 marks out of 500.

In 2015, the average pass percentage stood at 95.81%, increasing slightly the following year to 96.21%, only to slip further to 90.95% in 2017.

In the past three years, boys and girls have been neck-to-neck with nearly equal performance.

The CBSE announced the results for class 12th this year on 2 May. The pass percentage of the batch was recorded as 83.7%. With girls outshine as toppers in India. Two girls from Uttar Pradesh — Hansika Shukla from Ghaziabad and Karishma Arora from Muzaffarnagar — topped the examination.
