What is the SMART system?

SMART is a missile assisted release of a lightweight anti-submarine torpedo system for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) operations, which is far beyond torpedo range.

How was it tested?

During the test, full range capability of the missile was successfully demonstrated. The entire trajectory was carefully monitored by the electro-optic elementary system. The missile carried a torpedo, parachute delivery system and release mechanisms.

What will the SMART do?

The SMART system has been designed in such a way that it will enhance its anti-submarine warfare capability.

Features of the new torpedo

This is a canister-based missile system, which has been made by using advanced technologies like two-stage solid propulsion, electro-mechanical actuators and precision inertial navigation.
