Fashion designer Kate Spade has been found dead in her apartment in New York in an apparent suicide, according to multiple reports.

A housekeeper found the designer in her home at about 10:20 a.m., The New York Daily News reports. Spade had hung herself, sources told the Daily News.

Kate Spade New York has more than 140 retail shops and around the U.S., and more than175 elsewhere in the world.
