The Common Admission Test (CAT) is conducted every year for admission of students in post-graduate management programmes in business schools like the Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc). CAT is regarded, by many, as one of the toughest exams in the world.

Every year, more than 2 lakh students register themselves for the exam. However, the year 2020 saw a drop in the number of applicants with 2.3 lakh registrations, due to the pandemic. This was the lowest since 2016.

While preparing for aptitude-based exams like CAT — which is scheduled for November 28 this year — where the exact syllabus is not defined, it is important for aspirants to holistically prepare themselves with relevant resources. The aspiring students should choose books and study material, which covers the entire gamut of the exam.

The CAT exam is divided into three sections — Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Ability.

Below is a list of books with which you can prepare for all the sections included in the CAT exam, as suggested by Amit Poddar, senior regional head of T.I.M.E, a coaching institute for entrance exams
