According to reports, around 4,000 Indian students — majorly from Kerala — have appealed to the Supreme Court to postpone the NEET 2020 examination. As many as 17 lakh people will be appearing for the NEET exam this year to get admission in medical courses, Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said, addressing student concerns during a webinar.

Earlier, the JEE Mains and NEET exams were scheduled between April 5 to April 11 and May 3, respectively.

“Certain competitive examinations like JEE Mains require examinees to travel to other centers and in some cases even to other cities, to appear in the said examination. Also, the dates may clash with rescheduled CBSE and other board exams. Therefore, JEE Mains should be rescheduled and a new date will be announced on March 31, after re-assessment of the situation,” the ministry had said when the exams were deferred.
