During the recent assembly and parliamentary elections, some voters are not finding their names in the voters list despite being a registered voter. Here we discuss the different reasons that might cause this and the steps to registering a name in the voters list.
Reasons why your name might be missing from the voters listIf you have moved to a new address within the constituency or outside the constituency from which you are eligible to vote, your name might be missing in the voters list. In this case, you need to follow a simple procedure to update your address with the Election Commission database. Visit nic.gov.in and download Form 8A for address change within the constituency and Form 6 for address change outside the constituency.
If you wish to delete your name from the electoral list, use form 7 which can again be downloaded from nic.gov.in.
If your name is entered wrongly in the voters list, you will not be able to vote. You need to correct the wrong entry by applying through Form 8.
