  • Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi recently sold their Beverly Hills home for a reported $35 million.
  • The talk show host likely earned a hefty profit - she initially bought the home three years ago for around $16 million.
  • DeGeneres, an avid player in the real estate market, often sells her homes furnished, which may explain why the home sold at such a high price.
  • Last month, DeGeneres and Rossi purchased another Beverly Hills home for $15 million.

Ellen DeGeneres is playing in the real estate market once again - the talk show host and comedian recently sold her former Beverly Hills home in an off-market deal for a reported $35 million, according to Los Angeles real-estate blog Yolanda's Little Black Book, which reviewed property records.

That's $19 million more than what she and her wife Portia de Rossi paid for the home in late 2015, reported Variety.

The elevated property, which sits on nearly three-quarters of an acre set back from street view, is just shy of 5,300 square feet and has four bedrooms and eight bathrooms, according to Variety, citing property records. It features a motor court out front, a swimming pool in the back, and glass walls.

Sue Gross, who owns a $20 million pad next door to DeGeneres, bought the home, according to Yolanda's Little Black Book - at $35 million she paid nearly $7,000 per square feet. Business Insider didn't review property records, but the county assessor most recently valued the property at around $16.6 million.

There's no word on why the property sold at such a high price, but DeGeneres and de Rossi did renovate the place, likely pouring some of their own money into it. DeGeneres, an avid house flipper, is also known to sell her homes completely furnished, which may explain the home's hefty price tag.

"I never buy a house thinking that I'm going to sell it," she told the Los Angeles Times back in 2015. "But, anyway, yes, I learned as I went along that selling them furnished is lucrative. Obviously, I haven't sold things that are, you know, sentimental or personal...I also just think it can be really fun to move in somewhere that's completely furnished."

DeGeneres and de Rossi have owned and sold more than a dozen Southern California properties in the last decade, reported Variety.

This move comes right after they purchased an Old Hollywood style, 5,100 square-foot Beverly Hills home for $15 million in September, according to the Los Angeles Times. It last sold for $8.3 million in 2016, but has since been restored.
