Abhijeet Sawant

Abhijeet Sawant


Abhijeet Sawant was declared the first Indian Idol in March 2005. He was awarded the prize money of Rs 1 crore and a Honda City Car, along with a contract to make a music album titled Aap Ka Abhijeet. This was followed by another music album called Junoon and a short career in playback singing. He also participated in the Asian Idol where he represented India and stood third. He participated in Nach Baliye Season 5 with his better half Shilpa. Done with the singing bug, he tried his hand at acting. Abhijeet Sawant was then seen in the movie Lottery. He also did a small role in the film Tees Maar Khan. He was last seen as the co-host of Indian Idol Season 5.

Sandeep Acharya

Sandeep Acharya


His career and life were cut short by an unfortunate death. The winner of Indian Idol Season 2 was awarded with Rs 1 crore and a Maruti Baleno, as well as a contract to make a music album. He did some national and international tours after the show ended and participated in a singing reality show on 9X called Jalwa Four 2 Ka 1. He died following an illness on 15 December 2013.

Prashant Tamang

Prashant Tamang


The winner of the third season, Prashant Tamang, was awarded the prize money of Rs 1 crore and Maruti Suzuki SX-4. Also, he was lucky enough to win a music album contract. Following two music albums and a Nepali film as playback singer, Tamang has now taken up acting as well. He has done three films so far, called Gorkha PaltanAngalo Yo Maya Ko and Kina Maya Ma. He continues to do playback singing in films made in North-East India.

Sourabhee Debbarma

Sourabhee Debbarma


The first female to win the title, Sourabhee was given the prize money of Rs 1 crore and a TATA Winger. The music album she released was called Meherbaan. She has not been active in the entertainment industry after her stint with Indian Idol. As of now, she does national and international stage shows. She made a world record by singing for 4:30 minutes while suspended upside down.

Sreerama Chandra

Sreerama Chandra


The winner of the fifth season of Indian Idol, Sreerama was awarded the cash prize of Rs 50 lakh, a TATA Winger and a music album contract. The music album that he released was called Rehnuma. Post his win, he lent his voice to a number of Telugu songs. In Bollywood, Sreerama sang for movies like Mere Brother Ki DulhanKhiladi 786 and Yeh Jawaani Hai DeewaniBalma, his song from Khiladi 786, crossed more than 1 crore hits on YouTube. He made his debut as an actor in a Telugu movie called Jagadguru Adi Sankara. He was last seen in another Telugu movie Prema Geema Jantha Nai.

Vipul Mehta

Vipul Mehta


Vipul Mehta won the cash prize of Rs 50 lakh, a Nissan Micra car, a Suzuki Hayate bike and Rs 3 lakh from Max Life Insurance. He also bagged a contract to record his own music album with Sony. His music album was called Rowaan Mein. Following the first album, he released another album called Hello Namaste Sat Sri Akal. He is now planning to compose music for Bollywood.
