The film saw a low-key opening of ₹3.07 crore on Friday, its first day of release, in the domestic market despite excellent reviews and positive word of mouth. The film saw an increase in footfalls in New Delhi, East Punjab, Gurugram, and Faridabad. “The biggest plus for Thappad is a high ratio of business from Delhi NCR which holds strongly on Monday. If Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore can sustain as well then the film should do well,” reported Box office India.
