By: Vaamanaa SethiAjay Devgn’s OTT debut with Rudra: The Edge of Darkness has become the most viewed original Hindi show in 2022, according to a report by Ormax, Streaming Originals in India. The show’s viewership stood at 35.2 million.

Bollywood star power seemed to be a great pull factor as Bobby Deol’s Aashram S3 on MX Player came second on the list, with viewership of 34.3 million. In fact four of the top 10 shows had actors who played lead roles in Hindi movies.

The exception is Panchayat season 2, with 29.6 million views, ranked third. Criminal Justice: Adhura Sach starring Pankaj Tripathi and The Great Indian Murder with an ensemble cast, ranked fourth and fifth respectively.

Breathe: Into The Shadows S2 starring Abhishek Bachchan occupied the sixth spot with a viewership of 22.3 million.

Kangana Ranaut’s reality competition show Lock Upp took up the seventh spot. Dahan: Raakan Ka Rahasya, Hostel Daze S3 and Human also made it to the top 10.

Ormax also ranked Hindi original movies, and Akshay Kumar’s Cuttputlli took the numero uno spot with 26.9 million views. Abhishek Bachchan’s A Thursday grabbed the second spot, followed by Vicky Kaushal’s Govinda Naam Mera.

Deepika Padukone’s Gehraiyan was also one of the most watched movies with 22.3 million views. Freddy, Kaun Pravin Tambe? and Babli Bouncer took up the fifth, sixth and seventh spots respectively.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Good Luck Jerry was ranked eighth in terms of views, followed by Vidya Balan’s Jalsa and Madhuri Dixit’s Maja Ma.

Sharmaji Namkeen, Dasvi and Monica, O My Darling were some other most-watched original Hindi movies in 2022.
