has brought back many Bollywood actors from retirement and semi-retirement. Here is a list of top actors who once ruled the silver screen and vanished but came back to OTTs.

Sushmita Sen’s comeback in and as Aarya

Sushmita Sen’s last Bollywood movie and superhit was way back in 2004, that’s Main Hoon Na. The very choosy actress also acted in a Bengali film in 2015, but she gained nation-wide popularity with Ram Madhvani’s crime drama Aarya on Hotstar in 2020. The second season of the series too has been released in 2021.

Hu Tu Tu actor Chandrachur Singh comes back

Aarya brought back more than one more actor. Chandrachur Singh who was once a part of critically acclaimed movies like Hu Tu Tu and Josh, had faded after a series of flops, the last of which was Sarhad Paar in 2006. He plays Sushmita Sen’s husband in the first season of the series.

Karisma Kapoor enters the OTT with Mentalhood

The actress last appeared in the film 'Dangerous Ishhq' in 2012. Karisma Kapoor made her comeback with ALTBalaji and ZEE5 series, Mentalhood, in 2020. It portrays the trials and tribulations of mothers, but it failed to gain the attention of viewers.

Bobby turns Baba in Aashram

Bobby Deol bounced back as the lead character in Prakash Jha’s directorial Aashram, as his roles got shorter and shorter in multi starrers. His last Bollywood movie was Housefull 4 in 2019 but it was his Baba act and that of a former policeman in Class of ‘83 that won him laurels.

Pooja Bhatt as the banker in trouble

The actor-director was seen in her last film Sanam Teri Kasam in 2009 and turned to film making after that. Recently she acted in a movie of her own production house which was digitally released, Sadak 2. However, her lead show as the unscrupulous banker trying to break the glass ceiling in Bombay Begums got her the much needed attention to her acting skills.

Raveena Tandon’s police act in Aranyak

Mohra actress Raveena Tandon rejected at least 20 scripts before her OTT debut as lead in Netflix’s murder mystery show Aranyak. She portrayed a fierce police inspector in a mysterious hilly town with an eroding marriage and young children – and is up against the most diabolical villain she ever faced.

Madhuri Dixit plays herself; an actress

A-list Bollywood star, Madhuri Dixit made her OTT debut with Netflix’s mystery drama The Fame Game. The actress has written off the word ‘comeback’ as she believes she has always been in the public eye. She was part of Total Dhamaal’s ensemble cast in 2019 and also took up a lead role in Marathi movie Bucket List in 2018.
