Halle Berry once told director Bryan Singer to "kiss my Black ass" while on set for "X-Men 2," Page Six reported.
Costar Alan Cumming recalled the incident in his upcoming book "Baggage: Tales from a Fully Packed Life."
Costar Alan Cumming recalled the event in his upcoming book: "Baggage: Tales from a Fully Packed Life," which is set for release on Tuesday.
According to Cumming's account, Singer admitted that he was taking painkillers at the time, and the cast of the 2003 blockbuster staged an intervention with him to express concerns about his well-being - and their own.
Cumming specifically remembered Berry playing a big part. She "spoke movingly of people she had known with drug issues," he wrote.

But the director didn't respond with as much grace.
"You people are full of fucking shit," Cumming claimed Singer said to the group.
Singer continued his rant by telling the actors that none of them had "ever made a decent film" and "were lucky to be working with him," the book claims.
In response, Berry said she had "heard enough."
"You can kiss my Black ass," she told Singer, according to Cummings account.

Berry made her Marvel debut as Storm/Ororo Munroe in "X-Men," released in 2000 and directed by Singer.
She reprised the role for "X2," "X-Men: The Last Stand" (directed by Brett Ratner), and "X-Men: Days of Future Past" (directed by Singer).
"I would sometimes be very angry with him," Berry said. "I got into a few fights with him, said a few cuss words out of sheer frustration. When I work, I'm serious about that. And when that gets compromised, I get a little nutty. But at the same time, I have a lot of compassion for people who are struggling with whatever they're struggling with, and Bryan struggles."
The "Catwoman" star said that Singer "didn't always feel present" because of his personal struggles.

"He didn't feel there," she said. "And we're outside in our little 'X-Men' stage freezing our ass off in Banff, Canada, with subzero weather and he's not focusing. And we're freezing. You might get a little mad."
Representatives for both Halle Berry and Bryan Singer did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
