- Rosamund Pike walked the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday.
- Pike wore a "protective veil" because she injured her face in a recent skiing accident.
A recent injury caused Rosamund Pike to get clever with her red-carpet fashion.
Pike attended the 81st Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, on Sunday. The star-studded affair had several memorable moments — including host Jo Koy's awkward monologue — but fans online can't stop gushing about Pike's style.
The "Saltburn" actor arrived in a Dior Couture gown with floral detailing and sheer sleeves. Pike completed the look with a black floral-themed veil, which she said did more than add an unexpected flair to her ensemble.
"It's a protective veil for the occasion," Pike told Variety's Marc Malkin at the event. "I had an accident over Christmas, actually. I had a skiing accident. Not what you want, knowing you're coming to the Golden Globes on the seventh of January."

She added: "On the 26th of December, my face was entirely smashed up."
Malkin pointed out that Pike didn't look bruised, prompting her to confirm that she was healed from any injuries.
"I kind of fell in love with the look," Pike said, who joked that it fit her "Saltburn" character Elspeth Catton well.
"Either a sort of weird funeral vibe or maybe she wore black for her wedding," Pike said.
Representatives for Pike did not respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
Pike snagged a Golden Globe nomination at this year's ceremony for best performance by a female actor in a supporting role in any motion picture drama for "Saltburn," but lost to Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who starred in "The Holdovers."
Her costar Barry Keoghan was nominated for best performance by a male actor in a motion picture drama, but he lost to Cillian Murphy for his role in "Oppenheimer."
Other big moments from Sunday's Golden Globe Awards included a kiss between Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet, which sent fans into a frenzy online.
