After a promising summer buoyed by the massive success of "Top Gun: Maverick," movie theaters are facing a drought in new blockbuster tentpoles. The next surefire hit likely won't be until November, when "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" is released.

But there are still movies worth seeing in theaters right now. One of them is the aforementioned "Maverick," which is still flying high in thousands of theaters four months after it premiered.

"The Woman King," from "The Old Guard" director Gina Prince-Bythewood, stars Viola Davis as the leader of an elite, all-female group of African warriors. It received a coveted A+ grade from CinemaScore.
