Bad to worse

The movie industry is not short of flops even in a good year like 2023. Many movies that built huge expectations disappointed critics and audiences.

Prabhas’ Adipurush

The Prabhas starrer had a lot going for it – the timeless story of Lord Ram and a superhit director Om Raut. Yet, it flopped for its tasteless dialogues and more, and collected ₹393 crore at the box office.

Karthik Aryan’s Shehzada

This movie too had the formula right – the Telugu original was a superhit and it stars powerhouse performer Paresh Rawal. It may be the Netflix jinx where North India must have caught it online, and it collected only ₹47 crore.

Akshay Kumar’s Selfiee

Emran Hashmi and Akshay Kumar’s movie about a fan and star went above the audience’s heads. It earned only ₹17 crore at the box office.

The Salman movie has earned over ₹100 crore but it’s still a disappointment because it couldn’t match his earlier successes in spite of releasing during Eid.
