Facebook-backed BYJU's just made a new announcement, and it has something common with Zuckerberg-Priscilla's recent visit to a US school

Just yesterday, Mark Zuckerberg posted on Facebook informing the world how he and his wife Priscilla Chan had stopped by DelSesto Middle School in Providence, Rhode Island to see how once known as the lowest performing schools had overturned its fortunes by using personalized learning - helping students learn at their own pace in a way that works best for them.

Just a day later, Zuckerberg-backed BYJU's, one of India's most effective Ed-Tech portals today announced the launch of its new app. And what's NEW about it? The app now creates personalized learning journeys for individual students based on their proficiency levels and capabilities which helps them learn at their own pace and style - exactly the same thing Zuckerberg appreciated in his post on the DelSesto Middle School. Leveraging big data analytics to trace the learning fingerprint of every student, BYJU’S is creating a personalised learning experience on its platform.

Featuring unique learn journeys, guided paths, actionable feedback and intelligent recommendations, this version of the app is also made to be more interactive in nature.

Announcing the launch of the new app, Byju Raveendran, Founder and CEO, BYJU’S said, “At BYJU’S, we have successfully transformed the one-to-many learning model to one-on-one personalized learning experiences through our app. With high engagement and renewal rates, we have set a new benchmark in education technology nationally as well as globally. In this upgrade we have personalized the app interface to determine every student’s capability and recommend the right ‘Learn Journey’. Based on the level of understanding, ‘Learn Journeys’ will be tailor-made to every student’s individual requirements to ensure a seamless learning experience. We are also creating learning products in local languages to reach out to students across regions.”

Also realizing that parents play an important role in every student’s educational journey, BYJU’S also launched ‘Parent Connect’ app that claims to offer real-time update on every student’s progress. This app will help parents stay up-to-date and be more involved in their child’s learning journey.

Byju further added, “The all new ‘Parent Connect’ app elevates a parent from someone who just “monitors” to someone who “appreciates and encourages”, basically to a cheerleader’s position, who will guide and motivate the child to do better. Regular updates via the app will enable every parent to play a proactive role in appreciating the child. This will further instill and increase a whole new sense of confidence in them.”

Talking about the technology and product prowess at BYJU’S - RanjitRadhakrishnan, Chief Product Officer, BYJU’S said, “This new update has added a whole new personality to the application. We have created unique learn journeys for students which will offer them a completely personalized learning experience. We are able to build an extensive learning profile for every student. With in-depth understanding of their learning gaps and strengths, we provide actionable feedback along with highly personalized learning journeys and recommendations tuned specifically for each student. Technology and data are being utilized to build a truly digital personal teacher who understands the student intricately and crafts the best learning experience automatically. At BYJU’S, tech, content and design have been brought together powerfully to captivate, motivate and guide students to learn better."

Commenting on the unique combination of media and content with technology, Vinay MR, Chief Content Officer, BYJU’S said, “Our application has received a tremendous response since launch, because of which we have a lot of data and trends on how students learn. In this new version, all teams have worked together to create superior learning experiences. Across subjects, grades and chapters, we have created a powerful knowledge graph with over 50,000 concepts and relationships. This clubbed with our strong video production capabilities ensures high engagement levels for all aspects of content including video modules, in-video questions, simulations, games and tests. This massive effort of integrating all content elements to the knowledge graph enables us to understand every student’s unique requirements and create personalised learning journeys for them.”

With a reach of over 1700+ towns and cities, the team at BYJU’S is also striving to work on learning products in local languages to expand and reach out to students across regions.
