Flipkart and Amazon are at it again, raining discounts on online shoppers. While Amazon’s Prime Day sale is ongoing (July 15 and 16), Flipkart’s big shopping days festival will match this and more with its sale (between July 15 to 18).

Interestingly, while Amazon has made a big splash with the Prime Day sale with print, television and digital advertisements, Flipkart has taken the slightly quieter approach for this one. However, it could also be because the Indian e-retail giant is gearing up for its own biggest sale event – Big Billion Days later this year.

Smartphones up for grabs

Flipkart’s focus seems to be on the mobile phone category promising to offer best-in-class mobile phones at the most affordable prices. Models like ASUS 6Z, PIXEL 3A and Redmi Note 7 pro; wlong with superior devices for gaming buffs like the Black Shark 2 and POCO F1, are available on the Walmart-owned Flipkart.

For Amazon however this is the biggest sale of the year with offers across various categories on the website. For Prime Day 2019, Amazon India has signed with brands to launch about 1,000 new products and 14 new titles on prime video too.

Right before the sale event, Amazon India also offered a 50% cashback on Prime membership to Indian millennials between the age group of 18-24.

“We recognize that customers in the age group of 18-24 years want the freedom to do more with less. With the cashback, customers can enjoy the best of shopping and entertainment through Prime, while at the same time saving ₹500 to spend on all their favourite activities like shopping, food delivery, entertainment, travel and more,” said Akshay Sahi, Director and Head of Amazon Prime, India.
