India’s top three marketplaces were scouting to sell maximum higher valued products during the festive season sale, which has now drawn to an end.

Flipkart said it sold 15.5 million units during its five-day sale. As per reports, smartphones and televisions helped Flipkart to net $500 million.

"It's been a very important event for us, it puts us back in a very clear leadership position," said Binny Bansal, CEO of Flipkart.

Flipkart’s aggressive planning helped the e-commerce firm. "Our focus was on mobile, lifestyle and large appliances, and that is what we believe customers want to buy during this time. You can run sale on hing, churan, besan and bournvita anytime," said Bansal.

"This is the best Flipkart could have done as we are not going to see a similar buying behaviour by consumers for next 8-12 months. Since Flipkart has performed well, they can raise their new round of funding for a long fight," Satish Meena, forecast analyst at Forrester Research, told ET.

According to Flipkart, it saw a 100% rise orders on EMI and 50% on product exchange during the sale.

Meanwhile, Amazon India claimed it sold 15 million products.

A couple of days back, Amazon India said its annual Prime subscription service, priced at Rs 499, emerged as the top selling item in the sale.
