Government to construct 7000 kms of national highways to improve border connectivity

With a view to improve connectivity in border areas, the Government is planning to construct 7,000 kms of new national highways by including coastal areas too under the Bharatmala Pariyojna, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said during question hour, amidst unrelenting slogan-shouting by Congress members at Lok Sabha.

Gadkari said that the proposed programme has been envisaged to include development of road connectivity to some non-major ports also.
