Living the life of an IPL cheerleader isn’t easy. Dancing cheerfully when a batsman gets out or hits a six isn’t always the best way to know the inside story. Vivo IPL 2017 is in the 10th edition of the game and the cheerleaders have been here since the inception of the Indian Premier League.

An extension of the club leagues in the West, IPL’s culture of cheerleaders is typically racist. There are white women, skimpily dressed with pom pom. While many have criticised the concept as they felt it objectifies women, not much heed has been paid to.
