The state of Uttarakhand has in 5 Lok Sabha constituencies and hence it can give 5 seats to the parliament in total. The state will go for a single day polling during 2019 general elections as per the EC’s announcement. The date of polling in the state is April 11, 2019.

During 2014 general elections for the parliament, BJP showed a remarkable performance in Uttarakhand. Following its overwhelming success in the state, it has now all the 5 parliamentary seats from Uttarakhand.

Interestingly, the BJP could not get a single seat in the state during 2009 Lok Sabha Elections.

In Uttarakhand, the BJP is finding a tough time now since Manish Kumar Khanduri, a senior member of the party and the former Union Minister’s son has now joined the Congress party. Manish joined Congress during a huge public meeting in Dehradun in which Rahul Gandhi, the present president of Congress was addressing. The results of the polls across the country will be announced on May 23 and we will know the fate of different parties in the state on this day.
