Former Indian President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was laid to rest on Thursday with full military honours in Rameswaram.
Reportedly, around one lakh people attended his funeral, and some even climbed on coconut trees, risking their lives, to pay final goodbye to ‘People’s President’.
People carrying placards bearing Kalam’s photographs and famous quotes started lining up the funeral ground early in the morning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other political personalities paid last respects.
